Possible surgery

Post a new topicby carrieo on Fri Apr 04, 2008 9:22 am

Hi, i'm just on here to ask questions, dr recently told me i had the dropping or protruding of the rectal toward the vagina opening. yes this is scarey, he gave me some options, i got the cream, and he told me to do the kegal exercises, and come back in a month. He told me i could have a hysterectemy, have the pessary device if i chose to, i ask him about everything falling out, and he said that wouldn't happen to me, but if one thing is falling, the rest will follow wouldn't it? I am totally confused about what to do, i'm going to do the exercises and do the cream, he said it would thicken the lining and that would help. I'm 55 now, i had twins and i know that took a toll on my 5ft frame, it had to. One of the twins were born breach. ouch. I'm glad i found a couple of sites like this one to discuss these private issues. carrieo

Hi, I hope by now that you have had some answers. I have vaginal prolapse and also cystocle.

I tried the pessary and it did not work It hurt me. I had a hysterectomy at a young age and when I stopped the estrogen, got the dropped bladder.

I am having surgery on june4th. I saw 4 surgeons before making my decision. I was told that yes, other organs can fall. Don't know why they told you differently.

Hi, i'm glad you answered, yes i went back, and he said i could wait a while longer before having a hysterectomy if i wanted, he said as long as i could stand it, my back hurts a lot, how long do you have to stay in the hospital for this surgury your going to have? Ive talked to my neighbor , she had the vaginal drop and she said she felt better. I hate hospitals and all that. do they do this surgury without cutting on you? thanks carrieo

I am having a cystocele repair and also a repair of my vagina which has dropped. I live in the Phila area. The surgeon is doing all of this vaginally. He told me if he fixes the cystocele and not the vagina, one would undo the other. I had the same advice from 4 surgeons, so I know that is what is best for me. What I am concerned about is the weak bladder muscles from polio.
Hope you do well. I had a hysterectomy at age 32 and NEVER regretted it.
