Does this sound like prolapse?

Post a new topicby mommajayne on Sun Mar 02, 2008 4:11 am

I had a hyst a couple of years ago. Recently recovered from a severe UTI I went back to the doctor because I am still having this frequency issue. He tested me and urine shows no sign of infection. I can go every couple of minutes. Gets really annoying. I can feel some kind of lump on my vaginal wall, but it is on the right side. Could this still be vaginal prolapse?

Thanks.

Hi
Your symptoms do sound like prolapse, but being on the right side is unusual. I just had prolapse surgery (see forum for Prolpase surgery scheduled for Jan 29. I wrote extensively about my surgery).
I had the exact same symptoms as you. They also did a bladder suspension at the same time. I am having some complications from that. My incontinence is even worse than before. Before, I would only leak if I coughed hard, laughed hard or sneezed hard, or did aerobics. Now it is completely sporadic and spontanious. I still go often, but not as quite as before. I remember going christmas shopping in Dec. and was at the mall for about 2 hours and had to stop 7 times to urinate. Most annoying! Then, you never feel like it,s all the way done. I would get up, and have to turn right back around and try some more. Literally before I left the bathroom. You said the doctor tested you for the UTI and you were OK. Did he examine your vaginal area? Was this a GYN or just your medical doctor? A Gyn or Urologist would be able to definately diagnose this. I found websites by googling prolapse, and found all kinds of information on what it is, which helped me realize that I probably had that going on. There are severity ratings from 1 to 4. (Most sites used that range.) After some testing by a Uro/Gyn, (she was a GYN and a Uroligist too), she measured me at a 3.5. It was getting pretty severe. Go have it diagnosed by the right kind of doctor. Get all the information you can. It is a pretty intensive surgery, with an extensive recovery period. As my original post said, I had quite a few procedures done at the same time (Posterior vaginal prolapse (also called a cystocele), a rectocele, a bladder suspension and my uterus removed). It was a very difficult recovery. Because you bulge is on the right side, I would definately go to see what it is. Whatever it is, it is definately affecting your bladder. Hope this was helpful.
Best wishes
