Does anyone else have sharp pain?I have previously diagnosed rectocele by my former nurse practitioner. She examined me both lying down and in a standing position. That was a few years ago. Now I go to a male GP and about three years ago went to a gyno for painful intercourse. He sent me to a urologist who checked for bladder cancer and sent me on my way when that was negative. So, I dropped the whole thing. Well, now my new GP said my cervix is very low, but basically it is no big deal. He only examined me lying down though. He did prescribe estrogen cream, which I have been using for just a few weeks. Now, three months since my last exam, I am getting to the point where I can't stand to walk around. I looked with a mirror and it appears as though my whole vagina is blocked. I can see what I think is my cervix, right near the opening. When I shower, if I get some soap in that area, it really stings.
There is discomfort like you all have described here, but the part that bothers me the most is an actual PAIN, which is localized on one side and I can feel it with each step I take. It almost feels like a raw sore, but I cannot feel anything like that with my finger or see anything with the mirror. At times, this pain feels like it is coming from the area of my left ovary and radiating down into the pelvic area. Or, it could be starting in the vagina and radiating in the other direction. Maybe the falling-in uterus is rubbing against vaginal wall as I walk? Does anybody know if this is normal with a prolapse or do I have something else going on? I am planning to see a gyno. Trying to decide whether to go back to the middle-aged very nice male well-respected dr. that referred me to the urologist a few years ago (and never got to the bottom of my painful intercourse problem), or try to find a new person, maybe less experienced, but perhaps a woman who would be more understanding and more thorough. I'm so glad I found this forum and hoping for some helpful suggestions.
Re: Does anyone else have sharp pain? - one more thingPS - I'm 61 years old, and had three children vaginally in my 20s. No complications. 7 years post-menopausal. I have never had any surgeries in my life.
