urethral diverticula

it took almost two years to determine that i have urethral diverticula. i am told the only way out of this pain and suffering is to have surgery. I am not confident enough to go ahead with this but i cant function like this much longer. Has anyone had surgery for this or have related experience to share? Surgery is the only option, in some cases the diverticulum is removed from the urethra and other times it can be opened completely so it is wide open to the urethra so it no longer acts as a pocket. The type of surgery depends on location, size, and configuration.
