RSDI am 49 and just been diagnosed with RSD after 12 knee surgeries, the last being a total replacement. What do I have to look forward to?
Re: RSDHi Crimepays,
I see that many have read your question but no one stops to answer; and this I don't understand. What do you have to look forward to, this is a loaded question for the answer is complicated at best. I could lie and sugar coat it for you but this would do more harm than good. First did your doc take the time to discuss the diagnosis (DX) with you, and did he/she give you any literature to look over? There are many facets to this and not near enough time or space here to cover them all. Your best ally is time searching the net for answers. Look up Dr Hooshmand, a retired physician in the state of FL that spent 40 yrs. treating this DX. Also include CRPS in your search, another name for RSD. Where do you have your symptoms, anywhere else other than the knee, and have you seen an attempt of the disease to spread? Your pain can be anything from burning, crushing, or stabbing in nature or all of the above. You can also experience an uncomfortable tingling, stinging, electric type pain that come and go, and all can vary in intensity. They come by themselves or all at once. The area is usually accompanied by a hyper-sensitivity that hurts to touch or have any type of stimulation (air movement, clothes, or temp. chgs.). So as I said earlier the answer is complicated at best, so look up the disease and find out as much as you can and make sure your doc is treating it as aggresively as possible to help get the symptoms in control as soon as possible. I know this is discouraging at best and probably not what you wanted to hear/read, but I feel you needed to hear the truth about this instead of some sugar-coated halfhearted attempt to hide the truth from you. If this hasn't scared the stew out of you and you would like to talk further, respond and we can chat further. You can also d/load the toolbar and go to a live chat area and talk to others, however rarely is anyone there and you have to arrange to meet someone there. Let me know and I will gladly meet and talk more with you. You can visit rsdandyou.com and find a great place of support. It isn't a medical site, but a great place to talk with others with like fears and concerns. Again d/load the toolbar and I can meet you in the chat. Here is praying that you find the answers to your questions and hoping that you are blessed with a Peace in your journey. Be blessed, g0j0g0
Re: RSDThank you so much for replying. I am scheduled to see a renowned pain management doctor who deals with RSD on 9/26. AT that time I hope to learn more.
Re: RSDGreat and may you find Favor beyond belief, I'll be praying for you. Be blessed, g0j0g0
