In May of 1991 I slipped on a wet floor and hurt my left knee. At 27 and an active mother and college student, I just figured I would be sore the next day or two. At this time, there wasn’t as much known about RSD as there is today. After nothing was found from the orthoscopic knee surgery the doctor decided it was all in my head. Of course the pain continued and got worse. I kept going to doctors to try to find out what was wrong with me.

Linda, I am so happy for you that your rsd went away. We all hope for that kind of cure, but know that it is very rare. Still as you say, we have to hope. I'm sure when you become a nurse, if you aren't already, you will be VERY sympathetic toward anyone in pain; especially anyone who has symptoms of rsd. Do what you can to educate the people around you about this disease and you will be doing all of us a favor. Thanks for your story. It give us all a lot of hope. Sincerely, Terri Stevens

my mom has just been diagnosed with rsd and i would like to talk to someone that has it because for years i have been putting my mom down because i thought she was just acting my whole life she has been in pain she has been addicted to pain pills since i was a kid and i would like to learn more about it and talk to someone that has lived with it also my email is [moderator note: e-mail address has been removed]
