neuropathy questions

Post a new topicby thusia on Tue Mar 09, 2010 4:40 pm

Thank you for listening. I am 63, and am not diabetic. A few years back, neuropathy started in the toes of both of my feet. It is now throughout my legs to above my waist.
Any pressure on my legs causes almost unbearable numbness, pain, tingling, etc. By late afternoon all I want to do is get off my feet, and if I don't take enough pain killer to knock me out, I am in agony by 8 p.m. or so.
More and more ften, my arms and hands are being affected as well, and when it is really bad throughout my whole body, the pressure/pain feels like I am going to explode.
Yesterday, I had a stress/echo test on my heart, and within 5 minutes after I finished, I began to have chills, burning, sweating, shaking all over, with my left leg spasming throughout the whole time. They took me back into the test room, called in a doctor, gave me an IV, etc. Finally, after about an hour, the symptoms subsided and I could leave.
I was told it was likely a neuropathy event caused by the stress of the test.

Am I alone in these symptoms, and are there any physicians specializing in neuropathy in the Colorado area?

Thank you.
