Re: My Baby Sister!!!!!!!Hi sylvia and Erica,
I was diagnosed in "07" and thought it was the worst thing that could happen and worried about how long until I was in a wheelchair. I got really depressed. But realized there are worse things than MS. I have to have injections 3 x wk, and yes, there are days I dread doing them, It makes me really tired the day after and akey like the flu. But I have support from my family and my best friend ( my husband), and love them dearly! I want to be around them as long as I can, wheelchair or not! Erica is blessed with 3 children, unfortunately, I could not have any. they need her and she will need them. I started trying to exercise when I can, even if it is a little bit to keep my muscles in motion, even if it is slow. And eating healthier, massages do help also. If you don't know already, I am recommending two websites to both of you. 1: MSlifelines.com . They offer alot of educational videos, etc. and a line you can call to speak with a nurse about symtoms, meds, anything you need or just support. If a Dr. has recommended a medication for your sisters ms, rebif injections perhaps. MS lifelines helps with that financially, in part or for all of it, if needed. They helped me with it and I had insurance so they paid only part of what my copay was. 2: MSAA.org , They help with actual tests and follow up mri's, etc. related to MS. I work and have good ins. now, but I know where to go when I need to. The meds for MS can cause or add to depression, I was slow to talk to my dr. about this at first, but was tired of crying for no reason and feeling down. I have been on an antidepressant for almost 2 yrs now and feel better, my husband says he is glad to have his wife back ! You may not even need one, but there are generics that your DR. can prescribe for a much chaeper cost. I am taking citalopram 40 mg a day ( generic for celexa), it is 4-10 dollars for 1 month. Sylvia, what a great sister you are, I hope that this info helps you and especially Erica . Take care and God Bless you ! ,
