Waiting for the next one…I’ve had migraines since about age 14. My first headache was so frightening because I’d never had pain so intense. I remember I just rocked back and forth, holding my head and crying. I’m 37 now and have tried a number of medications. Thankfully we finally hit upon one that works and it’s a miracle.

Re: Waiting for the next one…I think I could write a book on migraine pain and the number of doctors I have seen in the search for relief. When I read your story, I felt like I was reading about myself. I too have found Maxalt to be the one medication to give me any relief without all the side effects that others have given me. If I take the Maxalt at the slightest onset of the migraine, I can hope to have somewhat of a normal day. I get migraines every day and without this prescription I am incapacitated for the most part.
I do have to laugh at the name of this site "Living With"..... I can't think that I am "Living With" migraines! Coping, surviving maybe, but not living! This is truly a condition that should be re-evaluated as a disablility. For many, it is not treatable or curable. I would give anything to be able to work outside my home, but I cannot even get out of bed on most days until later in the mornings. I am desperate to find a good, affordable Pain Clinic, Neurologist or Neurosurgeon who could give me the answers to this horrifying DISABILITY. Thank you for sharing your story!
