Salt and Migraines

As a young man ( early teens ) I suffered from migraine blurred vision was followed by going numb on one side of my face and sometimes my body. My father took me to the doctors thinking I had a stroke The doctor put or minds at rest by assuring us it was Migraine The doctor also explained it was difficult to find a reason as people who suffered were effected by different things.

Thank you for sharing your experience with salt. It is reassuring to meet another person who has had a similar issue. I have found sodium to be a key trigger in my migraines and my tolerance for it has increasingly diminished over the years. I have never had much sodium in my diet, but now even the smallest amount, such as added to cooking or on chips, will cause a headache. Because it is sometimes difficult to avoid completely, I try to compensate by drinking plenty of water. I have the same experience with alcohol and have had to cut that out as well. I am glad to hear you have been migraine free for so long and wish you the best.
