pain in kidneysI,ve just joined this forum , so forgive any mistakes i may make in posting. I've just passed my third stone in four years.
This last one has been different in that i'm still having pain in my left kidney. i've already had one follow up ct scan and now i have to go back in 4 days for another "more indepth" ct scan with the oral drink. no one has commented on the results of the first ct scan so i;m wondering what's up. anyways , my ? is why would i still have pain in my kidney?from what i've read a stone in the kidney doesn't hurt.
Re: pain in kidneysDid you pass all the other stones? Did you have lithotripsy? Sometimes it takes me weeks for the pain to completely stop, but its a lower grade pain than renal colic.
I have several stones in my kidney and they dont hurt, but one of them has just dropped into the ureter and it sent me to the ER a couple of days ago. I think its too big to pass, will find out tomorrow.
Re: pain in kidneysWhen you say pain, do you mean a similar pain to what you had while the stone was passing, or more of an ache? Usually after I pass a "larger" stone, I will have a dull ache for several days (like I have now; passed 4-5 mm stone yesterday) afterwards. If it's a sharper pain, odds are pretty good that you have one or more stones still in there.
Re: pain in kidneysit was a dull ache. last ct scan showed no stones left in left kidney but a small stone in the right kidney. am waiting for the right kidney stone to begin it's journey. it's like having a bomb inside just waiting to go off.
