Hi im 21 and been diagnosed with ic the doctors are now suggesting that i start taking Elmiron, i have heard that this drug causes lots of side effects including stomach ulcers Please can you give me any advice.

Hi there! I have just been told I have IC as well, and my doctor put me on elmiron too. I have been taking it for almost 3 weeks now. I am not sure about continuing it though. I am trying the diet plan, which is not much out there to eat....but it is helping, and I was told the elmiron could take up to 3 months to help. And I to have read the side effects and since I have been on this I am having more and more headaches!! Get on the internet and do some research....you will find that most people are not all for the elmiron. I just spent $267.00 copay for a month supply and I am thinking the diet may just have to work. Good luck! and I am very sorry you have this stuff. I am 40 years old and to hear of such young ladies having this breaks my heart!

Thanxs for that info, please could you tell me what the diet plan is, I live in the UK and my Dr has never used elmiron before on anyone and has only just researched it. Im off to hospital in a moment to collect my elmiron and also to be shown how to self cathaterise (bit nervous). Thanks again for your help.

If your DR put you on the elmiron there should be a diet plan packet with it.....I guess. If not here are a couple of website's to look at: www.ichelp.com, www.ic-network.com, and www.orthoelmiron.com. Good luck with everything! happyjac
