Interstitial Cystitis

I was diagnosed with IC about a week ago. I have been suffering with the symptoms of this for about one year and I am just now finding out that I have IC I am currently getting the treatments done once a week where they inject the treatment into my bladder by a catheter. I am nervous about the next six weeks. I have a two year old and I am afraid this is going to affect him too. Can anyone give me any advice on how to handle any of this.
