help me

Post a new topicby julzysaurus on Tue Nov 06, 2007 1:47 am

Hi, I have a few questions.
First, I have severe headaches, they go from the lower back of my head to my ears and my upper neck. It hurts really bad, and recently I have been getting them everyday. I don't know what to do. It hurts so bad that i don't want to move, open my eyes, talk... anything. I am wondering if maybe I am getting meningitis or something. Please write me back.
Thank you,
Julia

Hi Julia,

The first thing to do is make a list of additional symptoms associated with the headache, such as nausea, light sensitivity and activity levels. This will help the doctor to better diagnose the type of headache. I would recommend seeing a Neurologist or at the very least your regular doctor as soon as possible. There are a few possibilities accounting for pain in this area so we sometimes recommend an MRI scan of the brain and blood vessels. There are several treatment options but it would be better to have an exam and detail the other symptoms first. If you are unable to see someone, the fastest way is a trip to the ER to break the cycle of pain with i.v. medications.
