Physician-prepared epididymitis summary is insultingly vague

As a new 'peer', I hate to be critical of Urologychannel.com. However, my initial expectation was that I would find cutting-edge information about epididymitis treatment, considering that this is a website devoted to urological disorders.

Instead, what I found was a write-up allegedly prepared by a physician that had not been updated since 2007. Epididymitis and/or orchitis are serious conditions which, if not caught early and treated successfully in the acute stage, can become a lifelong and genuinely disabling illness if allowed to become a chronic condition because the pain it causes, even pain which might be considered 'moderate'elsewhere in the body, can be impossible to "compartmentalize" and ignore. And often the pain can be far greater, making it impossible to function.

In addition, although dated 2007, the information presented could have been written in 1987. And under the heading "Treatments", it provides the reader with a profound medical treatment insight: something called 'a-n-t-i-b-i-o-t-i-c-s" should be used. Sulfa drugs? Penicillin? Tetracycline? Macrolids? Floroquinolones? Specifics? Nothing. Not a hint as to what current drugs are available or which ones are considered first line drugs.

The entire article is like this - it reads like something Marcus Welby might have written for his patients to humor them in their questions while keeping the "real medicine" close to the vest.

Not impressed.
