Severe Sigmoid Colon DiverticulosisI have been experiencing lower abdominal pain/discomfort since April this year 2009. I had all of the diagnostic tests, i.e., ultrasound, colonoscopy, and pelvic and abdominal CT scan and severe sigmoid diverticulosis with possible mild acute diverticulitis was the diagnosis. I am currently going to a gastroenterologist who now has me taking Bentyl (generic Dicyclomine) 20 mg. 3 times a day before meals. I started with 10 mg twice/day and then 20 mg. twice a day. However, I did not see a change so we are increasing again. I did take the two antibiotics most common diverticulitis antibiotics cipro and metro but pain is still there. Gastro specialist does not think I have any diverticulitis at this point. Has anyone else had painful diverticulosis? Also, my gastro. Dr. says I can
eat anything as long as it is high in fiber. He says avoiding, nuts, seeds, etc. is a myth of the past. I was confused by this but I suppose I should trust him. He has 20 some years experience. Let me hear from other sufferers. Thanks
Re: Severe Sigmoid Colon DiverticulosisI've been sick with diverticulitis since May of this year. Not as sick now, no more vomiting, but still have dizziness, diarrhea and headache. tummy feels very tender and sometimes hurts. I'm on Bentyl 10mg before meals and at bedtime. Also, on align..which you can get over the counter. When will this horrible feeling go away? I've lost 34 lbs., but I needed to. Can't eat! small meals are better, drinking only water all day and night.
