Chest PainI have been experiencing chest pain in the center of my chest when I walk. I have had a stress test where they do the echocardiogram before you walk really fast on the treadmill and again afterwards. My stress test was fine. I went 9 min on the treadmill with no problems. He said it looked good. I have had a Body scan where they scanned the lungs and heart and it showed no calcium build up in the arteries...supposed to all be clear. Lungs looked okay also.
I can work in the yard, hauling mulch, digging holes for plants and all that and no problem with the chest pain I can work out with the Wii for an hour doing the Hula hoop, boxing and then running in place for 10 min and I'm okay. But when I get outside and my neighbors and I start walking at a good pace (not fast...but not just strolling along), it starts to hurt. But by the time we have gone half the walk, I'm breathing better and the pain is gone...Now and then I'll feel a twinge after that, but for the most part the pain goes away. The doctor gave me some Angina meds, Diltiazem, which didn't do anything to help...it still hurt when I walked part of the walk and now and then it would hurt just walking to another room and would subside quick as I sat down. He then gave me Ranexa. After taking Ranexa for about 3 days, the pain was constant all day long. I stopped taking the Ranexa and now the pain is only now and then during the day and when I walk, it hurts for the first half of the walk, but not while I work out in the house before the walk. Any idea what could be the cause of this kind of pain...It has been like this for almost a year now....I don't let the pain slow me down, I keep going, but it is aggravating dealing with this pain all the time and just really not sure what it can be. thanks Barbara

Re: Chest PainI know how you feel. Sure worries me having this chest pain when I walk. I do get out of breath too while the pain is there. The Angina meds he tried on me didn't work...one made it worse. He told me on my last checkup that he didnt think it was a problem with the heart. So I'm back at square one, have the chest pain and have no clue as to why. It has been going on for over a year now. I was out in the yard Wednesday, sweeping the sidewalk and the driveway of leaves, ran the weed eater and then raked up the front yard. No chest pain. Went for my walk in the evening, chest pain started hurting by the time I walked about 4 blocks. After walking about 10 blocks, it starts to ease a bit and by the time I finish the walk, it is almost gone. It is so frustrating not knowing why the pain. After working in the yard for an hour, I took my blood pressure, it was 130 over 74 with a pulse of 92. After 10 minutes, I took it again and it was 104 over 72 with pulse of 68. So the blood pressure and pulse go back to good fairly quickly after working hard. I'm really stumped as to why the pain and the loss of breath when I go out to walk.
I also find when I walk to the bathroom and then back to bed at night...when I lay down on my side, I feel some pain and when I roll over onto my back, the pain eases and goes away. I just don't get it at all. Very strange symptoms and i have no clue as to what it could be and It appears the doctor doesn't either. I thought if it was a heart problem or clogged arteries, it would hurt all the time when I do something strenous, but nope...only when I'm walking. Doing other things for the most part, don't affect it. Oh gosh, I guess I'm weird. LOL. I hope you are feeling somewhat better now. It sure isn't any fun having this problem. Did your doctor say what caused the Angina? Is it the blood vessels in the back of the heart that cause it? Do you get chest pain when you do things...in the center of the chest? That's where I usually feel the pain. It also makes me short of breath at the same time and I breath hard til the pain goes away. I'm so confused and sure worry about the hurting. later Barbara
